Callidus is looking for a technical expert in Oracle database design and operation of operational data stores and data marts to lead our internal Oracle DB operations in support of our SaaS business. This position will also participate in the on-going design and continued automation of the foundational application infrastructure of our robust lights-out production environment which is integrated with event management, call tracking and support team response. You will be working with a team of seasoned experts supporting a world class sales incentive compensation On-Demand business offering. Underlying technologies include Oracle RDBMS, Informatica Power Center, Informatica Power Analyzer, BEA WebLogic, SUN Java System Web Server, Java, LDAP, Actuate, running in a SUN Solaris 10 environment in an enterprise class hardened data center.

Responsibilities

Create and lead the Oracle database maintenance and performance tuning processes, practices, and tools needed to support our R&D teams development and support of our SaaS applications.
Train technical operations staff with essential Oracle troubleshooting and tuning skills.
Lead Oracle performance tuning program.
Lead Oracle product upgrade testing and deployment programs on behalf of development.
Contribute to SaaS architecture team and help drive creating and sustaining the number one sales performance SaaS business in the marketplace.
Work with Callidus product engineering to improve product performance.
Develop and lead Oracle database maintenance and performance tuning practice in support of R&D.
Develop, implement, and manage on-going Oracle monitoring processes designed to maintain availability and performance.
Develop and maintain Oracle database standards for our R&D development.
Lead Oracle system architecture. 
As a member of R&D assist with the the review and regular review of our SaaS application environments.
Provide Tier 3 support to On-Demand operations team for Oracle database issues related to R&D team applications.
Critical event monitoring, detection and intervention.
Lead and manage Oracle change management for R&D and with SaaS Operations.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering and 5 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years database administration and performance tuning experience
  • Minimum 2 years of UNIX programming (shell scripting), including coding from scratch, troubleshooting existing code, job control scripting, process automation scripting. Perl scripting experience preferred.
  • Familiar with Informatica and ETL concepts.
  • Experience managing a production Oracle DB environment on UNIX
  • Technical application design experience working with Oracle RDBMS
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership and independent judgment
  • Demonstrated customer service, teamwork, communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility to multi-task in a dynamic team while maintaining a high level of productivity

 

Technical Skills

  • UNIX shell programming and command-line (sh/ksh/posix - maintenance, importing/exporting, extracts, uploads, etc).
  • Perl coding on UNIX; Solaris 10 experience preferred.
  • Oracle PL/SQL coding (embedded in Perl, or Java, or EJB) , data structure manipulation, design, and performance tuning.
  • Call center issue tracking software use (e.g. Remedy ARS).
  • On-going deep-support and release/patch/upgrade administration for worldwide customer base.

Any of the following skills is a plus

  • Experience in enterprise incentive management / compensation.
  • Experience with a job scheduler such as Tivoli Maestro, BMC, etc.
  • Experience with Web UI technologies, including JSPs, Servlets, HTML and Struts/Tiles.
  • Familiar with change control methodologies.
  • Familiar with SOX IT audit requirements.
